With CAFE (corporate average fuel economy) standard on the rise, fuel economy numbers in cars are getting higher and higher. This is good news for both new and used cars. While brand new cars will offer the highest numbers, there are still incredibly fuel efficient vehicles available in the pre-owned market.
Some of the most fuel efficient options available are hybrids, and one of the best hybrids to find is a Toyota Prius. According to KBB.com, a base 2010 Toyota Prius in excellent condition could be had for around $16,000. To get a Prius for under $10,000, you might have to look at older model years, say 2006 and beyond.
While you may be concerned about the mileage and battery life on an older model, many drivers have experienced no battery issues even with over 200,000 miles on the odometer. Toyota warrants the battery for up to 10 years or 150,000 miles or 8 years and 100,000 miles depending on which state you live in.
So, if you’re in the market for a used car with fantastic fuel efficiency, take our advice and scoop up a Toyota Prius.
